Dalam Kristianitas,
terdapat lebih dari satu bentuk salib yang memiliki keunikannya tersendiri.
Beberapa bentuk salib berkaitan langsung dengan Tuhan Yesus Kristus, sementara
yang lainnya berkaitan dengan sejumlah Para Kudus dan lain-lain. Berikut ini
daftar beberapa bentuk salib yang umum kita temui.
Salib Latin atau
Crux Immissa. Adalah bentuk Salib Kristus yang paling umum dan dipercayai
sebagai bentuk Salib yang sesungguhnya tempat Yesus wafat.
2. Salib Tau
Salib Tau atau
Crux Commissa. Adalah salib berbentuk T sebagaimana yang disebutkan dalam
Perjanjian Lama dan dilihat sebagai pre-figur (gambaran awal) dari Salib
Kristus. Yeh 9:4 Firman TUHAN kepadanya:
"Berjalanlah dari tengah-tengah kota, yaitu Yerusalem dan tulislah huruf T
(Tau) pada dahi orang-orang yang berkeluh kesah karena segala
perbuatan-perbuatan keji yang dilakukan di sana."
3. Salib
Bizantium
Salib bentuk ini
digunakan terutama oleh Gereja Katolik Timur dan Ortodoks Timur. Palang
melintang di bagian atas untuk tulisan INRI (Iesus Nazareus Rex Iudaeorum),
sedangkan palang melintang paling bawah untuk menggambarkan pijakan kaki Tuhan
Yesus.
4. Salib
Slavonik
Salib bentuk ini
digunakan terutama oleh Gereja Katolik Timur dengan tradisi Slav dan Ortodoks
Rusia. Salib ini sebenarnya adalah Salib Bizantium namun dengan pijakan kaki
berada dalam posisi diagonal. Palang miring ini merepresentasikan hal-hal
berikut: 1). Sisi palang yang lebih rendah melambangkan nasib orang-orang
berdosa sementara sisi palang yang lebih tinggi melambangkan surga. 2). Sisi
yang lebih rendah merepresentasikan penyamun yang tidak bertobat (Gestas),
sedangkan di sisi yang menaik merepresentasikan penyamun yang bertobat (St.
Dismas) dan akan bersama dengan Kristus di Firdaus.
5. Salib Yunani
Salib Yunani (Greek Cross) adalah
salah satu representasi artistik yang umum dari Salib. Salib bentuk ini (seperti
angka tambah + ) dan Tau mudah untuk disamarkan, dan membantu para pengikut
Kristus pada era Gereja perdana yang teraniaya untuk menyamarkan identitasnya.
6. Salib
Yerusalem
Disebut juga
Salib Tentara Salib (Crusaders Cross). Salib ini tersusun dari 5 buah Salib
Yunani, satu buah salib besar dan 4 lainnya salib kecil, yang menyimbolkan: a).
5 luka Kristus b). 4 salib kecil
merepresentasikan 4 kitab Injil dan 4 penjuru bumi dan salib besar
merepresentasikan Yesus Kristus sendiri. Salib ini adalah simbol umum yang
digunakan selama perang melawan agresi Islam.
7. Salib San
Damiano
Salib San
Damiano dibuat oleh seorang seniman Umbrian dan ditempatkan di kapel San
Damiano di Assisi, Italia. Di hadapan salib inilah, St. Fransiskus dari Assisi
bertobat dan dipanggil oleh Tuhan Yesus untuk memperbaiki Gereja-Nya. Salib San
Damiano kemudian dibawa oleh Suster-suster Klaris ke San Giorgio pada tahun
1257 dan sekarang berada di Kapel San Giorgio di Basilika St. Klara dari
Assisi.
8. Salib Malta
Salib Malta
diasosiasikan dengan Ksatria-ksatria St. Yohanes (juga dikenal sebagai Ksatria Hospitaller
St. Yohanes dari Yerusalem atau simpelnya, Ksatria dari Malta). 8 titik/poin
pada Salib ini menyimbolkan 8 Sabda Bahagia. Ordo St. Yohanes ini menjalankan
usaha penginapan dan rumah sakit bagi para peziarah Kristen ke Yerusalem tapi
kemudian terpaksa terjun bertempur selama perang melawan agresi Islam.
9. Salib Kalvari
Salib Kalvari
memiliki tiga tangga yang menggambarkan tiga kebajikan teologis: Iman, Harapan
dan Kasih.
10. Salib
Penginjil (Salib Evangelis)
Salib ini
memiliki empat tangga di bagian bawah yang merepresentasikan empat Kitab
Injil; Matius, Markus, Lukas dan Yohanes.
11. Salib St.
Petrus (Salib Terbalik)
Karena Petrus
ketika dimartir memilih untuk disalibkan secara terbalik, maka Salib Latin dalam
posisi terbalik menjadi simbol St. Petrus, dan dengan demikian pula menjadi salah satu
simbol Kepausan. Sayangnya, Salib St. Petrus ini diadopsi oleh para Satanist
sebagai simbol mereka dengan tujuan untuk mengambil posisi yang berseberangan
dengan Kekristenan. Berbagai situs anti-Katolik seringkali menuduh Paus memuja
setan karena menggunakan Salib St. Petrus ini.
12. Salib St.
Andreas (Salib X)
Salib ini
merepresentasikan St. Andreas, saudara St. Petrus, yang disalibkan dengan salib
berbentuk X ini.
13. Salib Keltik
(Celtic Cross)
Salib Latin dengan
sebuah batu di tengahnya menggambarkan keadaan alam Irlandia dan Skotlandia dan
Penginjilan (Evangelisasi) daerah-daerah ini.

Beberapa urutan dalam perayaan Liturgi dalam Gereja Katolik adalah:
1. Hari Raya/ Solemnity:
Merupakan tingkatan tertinggi dari perayaan pesta/ feast. Hari Raya adalah untuk memperingati peristiwa- peristiwa dalam kehidupan Yesus, Maria atau para rasul; di mana peristiwa- peristiwa tersebut merupakan peristiwa utama/ sentral dalam rencana keselamatan Allah. Dalam Misa Kudus, perayaan hari raya ditandai dengan bacaan – bacaan Kitab Suci yang sesuai (Bacaan Pertama, Mazmur, Bacaan kedua dan Injil), pengucapan Kemuliaan, dan Aku Percaya. Setiap hari Minggu adalah hari raya.Hari raya ini adalah:

2. Pesta/ Feast
Pesta/ Feast adalah perayaan liturgis pada tingkatan yang kedua, untuk memperingati hidup Yesus, Bunda Maria atau rasul atau para orang kudus tertentu (major Saints). Hari Pesta ini mempunyai juga bacaan yang sesuai, namun hanya ada dua bacaan, ditambah dengan Kemuliaan (Gloria). Contoh: hari pesta hari kelahiran Bunda Maria 8 September, dan Pesta Transfigurasi dan Pesta Salib Suci (14 September), Pesta peringatan hari arwah (2 November)3. Peringatan/ Memorial
Peringatan/ Memorial adalah perayaan orang kudus yang berada di bawah tingkatan Pesta. Peringatan ini ada yang wajib maupun fakultatif/ optional. Banyak hari peringatan merupakan pilihan/ tidak wajib, yang dilakukan di keuskupan tertentu/ daerah/ negara tertentu.Peringatan orang kudus tidak akan dirayakan/ diperingati jika jatuh bersamaan dengan hari raya/ solemnity, pesta, hari Minggu, hari rabu Abu, Minggu paska atau Oktaf Paskah. Adakalanya dua peringatan yang wajib (obligatory) dapat terjadi pada hari yang sama, seperti pada peringatan hati Maria yang tak bernoda (yang tanggalnya tergantung dari hari perayaan Hati Kudus Yesus, yang tidak tetap setiap tahunnya) yang dapat jatuh bersamaan dengan peringatan orang kudus tertentu yang sudah tetap/ fixed. Maka kedua peringatan itu menjadi optional.

Apa
yang dimaksud dengan sebutan “Maria Bunda Ekaristi”? Salah satu ciri
seorang ibu ialah ‘melahirkan’. Sudah jelas bahwa Maria tidak melahirkan
Ekaristi. Ekaristi merupakan hadiah yang diberikan Yesus kepada kita
pada hari terakhir hidupnya ketika merayakan perjamuan Paskah bersama
murid-muridnya. Itulah hadiah yang tak terhitung nilainya tetapi yang
tidak selalu kita hargai sebagai mestinya.Injil tidak menyebut apakah Maria berada di tengah para murid dalam perjamuan malam terakhir. Hal ini tidak berarti bahwa kehadirannya tidak mungkin, tetapi kita tidak dapat mengetahuinya. Kisah Para Rasul melaporkan bahwa Maria berada bersama dengan para rasul pada hari Yesus naik ke surga. (Kisah 1:14). Kita boleh mengandaikan bahwa ini berarti bahwa beliau berkumpul dengan mereka sejak Yesus disalibkan. Mungkin saja ia meninggalkan salib Yesus bersama dengan Yohanes yang barusan diminta oleh Yesus mengurus ibuNya.
Pada waktu Perjamuan Malam Terakhir Yesus berpesan kepada murid-muridnya: “Lakukanlah ini untuk mengenangkan Daku”. Dalam Kisah Para Rasul dikatakan bahwa jemaat yang pertama memecahkan roti di rumah masing-masing secara bergilir, artinya mereka merayakan Ekaristi sesuai dengan apa yang diminta Yesus kepada mereka. “Dengan bertekun dan dengan sehati mereka berkumpul tiap-tiap hari dalam Bait Allah. Mereka memecahkan roti di rumah masing-masing secara bergilir dan makan bersama-sama dengan gembira dan dengan tulus hati.” (kisah. 2: 46) Ini dikatakan terjadi sesudah Pentekosta, lima puluh hari setelah Yesus bangkit. Apakah selama lima puluh hari itu Ekaristi belum dirayakan oleh para Rasul beserta Maria? Kita cenderung percaya bahwa selama lima puluh hari itu para Rasul sudah merayakan Ekaristi sehingga hal itu sudah menjadi suatu kebiasaan yang mudah diwarisi kepada mereka yang ‘memberi diri dibaptis’. Maka tanpa ada buktinya kita boleh saja menganggap bahwa Maria ikut merayakan Ekaristi bersama dengan rasul-rasul dan murid-murid pertama sejak untuk pertama kali mereka melakukannya sesudah wafat dan kebangkitan Yesus. Kemungkinan ini dapat merupakan suatu alasan bagi sebutan Maria sebagai “Bunda Ekaristi”.
Kepada Maria selanjutnya pada abad-abad berikut, diberi gelar-gelar lain yang memakai istilah ‘Bunda’: Dalam litani Santa Perawan Maria kita menemukan limabelas gelar. Istilah ‘Bunda’ dalam gelar-gelar itu berbeda maknanya. Ada yang artinya ‘berhubungan secara istimewa’ : Bunda Allah; Bunda Kristus (Maria melahirkan Yesus, ia tidak melahirkan Kristus yang artinya Mesias); Bunda Gereja; Bunda Pencipta; Bunda Penebus dan juga Bunda Ekaristi. Gelar-gelar lain berdasarkan keutamaan Maria: Bunda rahmat Illahi (Maria penuh rahmat); Bunda yang tersuci; Bunda yang termurni; Bunda yang tetap perawan; Bunda yang tak bercela. Gelar-gelar lain mengajak kita untuk menerima Maria sebagai Bunda kita: Bunda yang patut dicintai; Bunda yang patut dikagumi. Dan satu gelar lagi dalam litani Santa Perawan Maria dengan sebutan Bunda menyebut sesuatu yang dapat diminta kepadanya seperti nasihat dalam gelar Bunda penasihat yang baik.
Masih banyak gelar yang lain yang terdapat dalam litani Santa Perawan Maria, tetapi tanpa sebuatan ‘Bunda’, yang semua dapat dimasukkan ke dalam kelompok-kelompok yang di atas. Ternyata bahwa ada gelar-gelar yang lain yang tidak atau belum dimasukkan ke dalam litani, contohnya gelar yang sekarang dibicarakan yaitu Bunda Ekaristi. Seperti semua gelar yang diberikan kepada Maria, gelar Bunda Ekaristi bermaksud supaya kita mengakui tempat yang istimewa yang dimiliki Maria dalam sejarah keselamatan umat manusia. Dalam tahun Ekaristi yang kita jalankan tahun ini Maria dapat menolong kita untuk lebih mengerti Ekaristi, lebih mendalaminya, lebih mencintainya dan, kalau perlu, lebih rajin menerimanya.

PowerDVD
has come a long way since its origins, when you needed such software to
play DVDs on a Windows PC. These days it's Blu-ray playback that
doesn't come as standard, and so PowerBlu-ray may be a better, if
somewhat clunky title.
Even that moniker wouldn't describe what you get from PowerDVD today. The simple disc-spinning software has grown into a media playback suite with wide support for video, photo and music files. This latest version has extensive file format support, including popular container formats such a MKV, and had no problem playing any file we threw at it.
The two big new features for Blu-ray playback are support for DTS-HD 7.1 soundtracks and the ability to apply 3D upscaling to Blu-ray discs. We've seen the latter applied to DVDs and other video files before, and can't say we've been terribly impressed. Sometimes it works quite well, but it's inconsistent and this makes it very tiring to watch as your eyes struggle to make sense of what is often nonsensical. If you like to watch pick-and-mix favourite scenes from movies, something that PowerDVD encourages with its bookmarking and sharing features, then there's fun to be had here - but we doubt many will get through a whole movie using it.

Truetheatre make its return too, providing easy to use image processing tools - at least compared to more enthusiast decoding and post-processing software such as ffdshow. There's an automatic mode that sharpens things up a little and reduces the appearance of more obvious compression artefacts. You can also tweak the settings to your own preferences, though again not to the same degree as the level of control in ffdshow. We found the default results to be pleasingly sharper and brighter in the main, though you'll barely notice it on high-quality content such as Blu-rays.
We could try and justify this by talking about Trutheatre image processing, or the pseudo 3D mode - but it's really here simply because we love Indy
The interface is straightforward enough, with locations for your content listed on the left and a big browsing and playback pane in the centre. It will pull in content from local storage, attached devices, UPnP and DLNA servers, and popular online site such as Facebook, YouTube and Flickr. You can quickly browse through media files from all these sources, download files en masse from online. It's not as powerful as a dedicated music or photo app, so there's no way to sort albums by year of release, or to tag faces in photos, for example.
It's a small point, but we were surprised to find that the PowerDVD window didn't respond to all the usual Windows 7 shortcuts for moving and maxiximsing the window - such as drag to top of screen, or Windows key and cursors to snap to screen edges. It also insisted on opening by default on the BD/DVD movie page, which is full of links to movie trailers and info, or 'Featured Celebs'. We'd much rather it defaulted to the last open folder than popped up a page of promotional content to movies we don't own.
Mainstream movie buffs may like it, but we'd rather not be presented with a load of promotional content upon opening the program
Where it shines is in dealing with video and mobile devices. You can sync any non-DRM protected file to a connected device - such as an Android phone or tablet. PowerDVD does all the hard work, recognising your device, from a database of thousands, and picking a resolution and codecs that will work best with it. In our case we took some Blu-ray quality content and it squeezed it down to 720x480 (which fitted nicely on the native 854x480 display) at 2Mbit/s using AVC video compression. The results were pretty impressive for single pass encoding, and we were more than pleased with the whole process.
Speaking of mobile devices, this Ultra version of the software comes with two bundled apps - which are then free to download from the Android Market or App store. PowerDVD remote simply lets you control your PC, and therefore PowerDVD itself, using controls on the handheld's screen. These include both media shortcuts (play, pause etc.) as well as a virtual touchpad so you can control Windows itself. Nothing very radical about the latter but having both in one app is certainly handy.
The other app is PowerDVD mobile. This is primarily a media playback app, so you can browse photos and play music, and watch video files. This all works well, though there's nothing to get excited about again. Where it really comes into its own is in pulling and pushing media to and from other devices. Using the app alone you can pretty much play any file on any device, anywhere you like. Want to play a video from your phone on your DLNA TV, then just hold down the file thumbnail and a menu appears with media players you can push the file to. Similarly you can grab files from elsewhere (such as our Blu-ray quality video test file) and stream them to your handheld device, with your PC re-encoding them in real-time.

Again none of this is revolutionary - your PC can already do this to a degree using the right-click Play to command. However, the slickness with which you can select and play files across an Android handset, Apple iPad, Windows PC and media streaming device -such as a WD TV Live - is impressive none-the-less.

We'd be interested to see how much CyberLink would charge for a fully-featured version of the software but without the Blu-ray and DVD playback parts and their ensuing license costs.

Overlay two identically coloured objects, for example, and they merge together; overlay differently coloured objects and the top one eats a hole out of the one underneath! In skilled hands, the system can be surprisingly efficient, but for most users it’s an initial stumbling block and a constant irritation. Now at last the nightmare is over with the introduction of a new optional Object Drawing mode in which objects in Flash finally behave in the same way that they do in all other drawing applications.
In fact Flash 8 Professional’s vector drawing power has been enhanced all round to bring it more into line with the likes of Freehand and Illustrator. Using the Properties Panel, for example, you can now control end caps, mitres and joins. There’s also a Stroke Hinting option which ensures that nodes are anchored on full pixels ensuring razor-sharp horizontal and vertical lines.
